Amateur Radio Demonstration – International Marconi Day 2025

The North Dublin Radio Club will set up a shortwave radio station in Ardgillan Castle to celebrate Marconi Day and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the International Amateur Radio Union, of which Ireland was a founding member.
The demonstration will attempt to contact similar radio stations around the world on the shortwave bands. They will be using Morse Code, Voice, and the new digital modes of radio waves on a PC screen showing data being exchanged between the radio stations.

This is a free public event.
The IARU represents the interests of Licensed Radio Operators under the international treaties that control the hobby. Amateur Radio is the only hobby in the world regulated by International treaty.
Amateur radio is promoted by the Irish Department of Education as part of the STEM program for Education in the sciences.
