Ardgillan Gallery presents

This Dark Storehouse

a solo exhibition by Thomas Brezing

The exhibition is open from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday 12th August and runs until Sunday 24th September 2023.

This Dark Storehouse, a multi-media installation that repositions discarded, pre-loved materials as a reflection of the interconnected nature of the earth and the creatures that inhabit it. Using the discarded remains of mass-produced products, Brezing creates a para-truth environment, a hybridisation that speaks to the transactional relationship of humans and the decay that we leave behind. With this work, Brezing seeks to find a beauty and poetry in the objects we consume. This Dark Storehouse asks the viewer to consider the connected nature, and collective impact, of our existence.

Thomas Brezing is a multi-disciplinary artist and poet. He was born in Germany and moved to Ireland in the early 1990’s and is currently based in North Co. Dublin. He works in various art forms: painting, installation, poetic text, print, drawing and performance. His themes vary and include identity, the environment, mortality, loss, the legacies of war, ageing, mental health, his ‘German past’ and ‘Irish present’. Brezing has exhibited widely, nationally and internationally. His debut poetry collection Anvil Dust was published by Scotus Press in 2022. He is currently finalizing his second collection.
