Bring your dog to visit Santa on December 14th!
This year we are very excited to announce that you can bring your dog to visit Santa Claus at the castle! We have a special dog friendly day on December 14th. Your ticket includes a visit to Santa & admission to our Christmas trail inside the castle which your dog can come along on too! Afterwards you can enjoy a coffee in our dog friendly tea rooms or bring your pooch for a run in our designated "off lead" area which is a full 26 acres. Professional photographs will be available to purchase on the day as well.

- Dogs can only visit Santa on our dog friendly day on December 14th.
- Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Any doggie accidents must be reported to a member of staff.
- All adults must also buy a ticket to enter the event.
- This event is wheelchair accessible, with the exception of one small area on the Christmas trail.
- Online bookings will not be available 24 hours before a selected date
You can only bring your dog with you to visit Santa on our special dog friendly day which is December 14th. Dogs are allowed in the castle tea rooms 7 days a week. Dogs can accompany their owners on the Christmas trail on December 14th or on any weekday in December. We strongly advise booking in advance as our events sell out very fast. However, there might be some availability for walk-ins on the day but wait times might be very long.
If my appointed time for Santa is, for example, 10.00a.m do I get to visit Santa at exactly 10.00a.m?
No – you have been given a half hourly slot. You will see Santa sometime between 10.00a.m and 10.30a.m.
Yes you might still have to queue to get into the attraction.
Bookings are made every half hour and we endevour to get all the guests into the attraction during that half hour Eg. If your booking is at 11am you will be let in between 11am and 11.30am.
Yes – Guests will have the opportunity to buy photos of their visit to Santa on the day.
Yes. We have two free car parks which are manned by our park rangers. The lower car park is reserved for visitors with accessibility requirements. If you are parking in the upper car park please give yourself at least 10 minutes to walk down the path to the castle.
Bookings are non-refundable so please ensure you pick the correct date and time before completing your booking.
Yes – However, there is one area on the Christmas Trail which is not accessible with a buggy or wheelchair. We will have a small area inside the Christmas trail where you can leave your buggy if you wish to go downstairs but please note that Ardgillan Castle does not accept any responsibility for lost or stolen goods.
If you wish to bring extra people with you please call the castle on 01-8492212 between the hours of 10am-5pm. We can accommodate extra visitors but they must enter the event with your party during your booked time slot.
The Christmas trail is a celebration of Christmas traditions from around the world. It is a festive walk-through experience set in the stunning period rooms of Ardgillan Castle. Visitors will make their way through the castle at their own pace. The Christmas trail is fun for kids and adults alike!
No! The Christmas trail is fun for all ages. Adults and older children will enjoy learning about Christmas traditions from around the world, but there will still be lots of things to keep the young kids entertained.
Yes, admission to the Christmas trail is €6.50 per person. Tickets for the Christmas trail do not need to be bought in advance, you can purchase tickets at the castle. The Christmas trail is open 7 days a week.
