This historical match was the first reference to cricket being played in the North County and one of the first references to cricket being played in Ireland. In honour of the 1829 match, the two clubs held a ‘friendly’ on the lawn in the demesne overlooking the castle and the sea beyond. The weather was on their side and offered spectacular views for those in attendance.
